Our street Dance classes focus on hip hop, street, break dancing and commercial styles whilst dancing to the latest chart music and your favourite tunes. Street Dance is a popular style of dance with both girls and boys. Children are introduced to and taught street dance vocabulary with the corresponding movements. These moves can then be combined into routines.
These classes are designed to help dancers learn to pick up new and complex choreography quickly whilst develop individuality, expression, and performance skills. Students are also encouraged to express themselves through improvisation and freestyling. Ideal for those naturally drawn to this style of dance to challenge them further and for beginners who love cutting shapes in the kitchen but need an outlet to show off and refine their moves!
Is your child always upside down or cartwheeling around? This is the perfect class for them. Acro dance is a style of dance that combines dance technique with acrobatic gymnastic elements. It teaches flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination to prepare for those complex tumbling and acrobatic skills. We have a wide range of mats including an air track, incline mat and tumble trainers to aid and develop your child’s skills. Your child will build their skills list in all areas including cartwheels, ariels, handstands, walkovers, chest and elbow stands, handsprings, splits and much more!
Children are introduced formally to ballet vocabulary and a more traditional structure of class with warm-up, barre work, progression of exercises in the centre, turns and jumping. This class will enhance your child's coordination, balance, flexibility and develop awareness of alignment. Our ballet classes focus on adding musicality, choreography, and artistry to their ballet technique. Ballet provides a solid foundation for all other forms of dance.
Contemporary dance encourages dancers to ‘let go’. It was initially a reaction to the exquisite style of ballet. Ballet features a lot of symmetry, precise set steps and upward movements, whereas contemporary has a tendency towards the opposite; asymmetric, freedom and floor-based movements. It is one of the rawest dance styles there is as it allows dancers to be versatile in their expressions and to be able to portray a wide array of movement styles and emotions. In our Contemporary Dance classes, we explore use of body weight, floor work, technique, and musicality. We also like to include partner work to allow dancers to work together and inspire each other’s movements- partner work is a fantastic skill to gain. It will also include improvisation to give freedom for their own movements.
At Studio CK we also offer private lessons for students who like to work on a 1:1 basis or for those who would like to work on specific skills with our teachers.
